Designing Levels

Our latest assignment tasked us with creating three fully fleshed out levels that we could theoretically make in Unity if given the time and resources. These levels were required to be based off the game we prototyped earlier this year which immediately meant trouble since my game was supposed to be in an open world adventure format. It took me a while to be able to incorporate the bubble map technique we were supposed to use since the player's path wasn't intended to be linear for the main two levels but eventually I got something I was happy with. After that I brought them into Adobe Illustrator and spent a good bit of time trying to make them look pretty. The first two levels turned out pretty good but by the time I got to the third level I had ran out of time so it's not quite as satisfying to look at. Luckily, the third level was more of an optional dungeon with a cool weapons upgrade that no player would really have to go through and the graphics wouldn't look anything like they do in the finished level designs.
