Brainstorming Game Ideas

Today we were tasked with coming up with a new idea for a game based on a fantasy universe. I had a lot more fun with this than I originally thought I would, and I'm actually pretty happy with what I came up with.

We were told to number our top ten favorites but that doesn't exactly work with the map I came up with. I started with three main ideas for plot points and branched out how I thought I might go about designing them. After that I started listing details I wanted to include. I did circle my favorite thoughts and I numbered them as best I could but it's hard to separate all of them into their own distinct ideas. This is because they all kind of work together to create what I think will be a pretty cool plot.

The bits and pieces of this idea are a bit up in the air but to sum it up: you start as a child pursuing magic with your mentor. Starting as a kid learning the basics of witchcraft makes for an easy place to put a tutorial. Sadly, your mentor dies pretty quick once the game starts because of a spreading darkness in the land and you go to seek revenge. Whether or not it's some big legend where your mentor knew the person who started spreading it and was trying to stop them or just died because its happening to everyone can be decided later. Now you set out on an epic quest to seek revenge and reach your max potential. You fight off enemies that are slowly becoming more and more corrupt by the spreading darkness. With each new area you enter time jumps forward a little bit so you naturally gain more skills and your character appears to be aging. Eventually you make it to the center of the corruption and exact your revenge but it won't be easy and you have to fight some pretty cool looking enemies that I already have ideas for.

It sounds like a lot but I'm hoping that with the right stylistic and mechanical choices it could make for a really cool game.
