Like I mentioned in my last blog post, we recently began working with a very popular vector graphics program called Adobe Illustrator. I was able to learn how to use most of its tools and primary functions this summer through a 3D printing and laser cutting summer program. Because I was so lucky as to know, somewhat, what I was doing coming into our lessons I felt like I have had a handle on the projects so far. Learning to use the basic shape building tools was definitely a big advantage because it allowed me to use less time learning the tools and more time getting comfortable with them as I explored new ways to use them. The projects we have worked on so far have had a big focus on shape building and our choice of colors. I have enjoyed these projects because they have acted as a great refresher on the aspects of Adobe Illustrator.
Just because I already know the basics does not mean I am not looking forward to future lessons and really getting to know the tools and shortcuts. I have never been the best when it comes to drawing line art, my past attempts have not been horrible but have definitely not been perfect. I hope that as I adjust to Illustrator and it's features my line art will grow more detailed and proportionally accurate.
In Summary, even though I came into this unit with an advantage, I can not wait to further explore the program and show my creativity.
