I always wondered how UVW maps worked because when you look into the files of a game you can find all the complex texture maps. I don't think I ever fully appreciated how much time and detail went into the making of each of those complex textures. Now that we've started learning how to use the UVW editor in 3D Studio max on simple shapes, I have gained that appreciation. I still have a lot to learn about texturing more complex models but, I can imagine the process is even more tedious and complicated. 3D modeling has never really been something I wanted to pursue as a career I feel better about it now that I've gotten comfortable with the program but, I still struggle with aspects of it. The UVW editor has not been super accommodating to me so far, there seems to always be something slightly off that's causing huge problems. I can usually solve those problems by trying a bunch of things but I can't say I want to do that for the rest of my life.
I'm excited to see what I get to make but a bit worried about the process and whether the results will look like I want them to. Hopefully, I get the hang of things and, it all works out.
